Have you recently undergone wisdom tooth surgery? If so, we hope everything went well! Now you’re on your way toward having a top-notch oral health and smile. However, that’ll only be the case if you recover properly. So, to help you heal, Dr. Mark Ryser has some helpful tips for you.
Tip No. 1: Reduce the swelling and stop the bleeding. You can reduce the swelling by icing outside the area with an ice pack. It’s best to ice it for 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off then repeat the process until the swelling subsides. You can stop the bleeding by placing a bandage or gauze pad on the surgical site. When it’s there, bite down until the pad fills. Once the pad is full, replace it with a clean pad.
Tip No. 2: Relieve your pain by taking the medications your dentist gave you following your surgery. Please take the medication as recommended. If you did not receive pain medication, relieve the pain by taking over-the-counter painkillers.
Tip No. 3: Only eat soft foods. It’s best to eat foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, ice cream, etc. This can help you avoid creating issues in the area. Avoid eating hard and crunchy foods as much as possible.
